A 12mm PINFIRE FASSIN RONGE PATENT REVOLVER RETAILED BY BERTONNET, BUENOS AYRES, serial no. 29,
circa 1870, with round 5in. barrel signed in script 'BERTONNET, BUENOS AYRES CALLE SAN MARTIN 50', the solid frame with relief engraved foliage and scrolls repeated in a broad band around the plain cylinder, the right lower side of frame marked 'FASSIN RONGE BREVETE 29', top hinged loading gate, the rear face of recoil shield with engraved scrolls, chequered walnut one-piece grip with engraved half back-strap, oiler stored in the heel-plate and folding trigger with double action mechanism
Provenance: Bertonnet of Buenos Ayres seemed "to assemble" or "to finish" weapons manufactured either in Belgium or in France and during the second half of the 19th century was one of the more important importers of weapons. Bertonnet traded at No. 50 San Martin Street, Buenos Aires between 1867- 1871
